Marks to Percentage Formula

Percentage = (Obtained Marks ÷ Total Marks) × 100

Single Subject Example

Multiple Subjects (Overall)

Add all obtained marks and all total marks, then apply the same formula:

Overall % = (Sum of Obtained ÷ Sum of Total) × 100

Common Mistakes

Dividing by wrong total (e.g. 1100 vs 1050 for board exams)

Mixing percentage with CGPA — they are different scales

Forgetting lab/practical marks in the total

Board & University Context

**Pakistan (Matric/Inter):** Usually out of 550, 1100, or subject-wise totals

**India (CBSE/State):** Often out of 100 per subject or 500 aggregate
